BMX bike star to perform at Lake Villa library

On Friday, June 22 at 10:30 a.m., the Lake Villa District Library will host a performance by Matt Wilhelm, BMX champion.

Matt's amazing BMX bike tricks have earned him three X Games medals, two National Championships and a host of other awards. A recent semifinalist on “America's Got Talent,” Matt is known as the fastest spinner in the world on a BMX bike.

In addition to wowing the audience with his astounding tricks, Matt will share his inspiring story — he overcame many crashes and disappointments during his ride to the top. He'll show us how we, too, can achieve our goals through perseverance and hard work.

In addition, Friday's event will feature an appearance by Lake Villa's own BMX champion, Felicia Stancil. A BMX racer since she was 4 years old, Felicia is now a member of the Factory GT Bicycles team. She's won 18 USA National Titles between two organizations and currently has 11 World Championship titles, a national record.

The BMX-travaganza will be outdoors in the library's lower parking lot. All ages are welcome. No registration is required. If the event must be canceled due to inclement weather, it will be rescheduled at 10:30 a.m. July 27.

The Lake Villa District Library is at 1001 E. Grand Ave. in Lake Villa.
