Man sentenced for seeking sex with girls

A Southwest suburban man was sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to attempting to solicit men to provide their daughters for sex.

Brandon J. Bergthold of unincorporated Frankfort Square pleaded guilty Tuesday to indecent solicitation of a child. He was originally charged in January with two counts of indecent solicitation of a child and one count of traveling to meet a minor. The charges were dismissed in exchange for the guilty plea.

The investigation was launched in November after a sheriff’s deputy monitoring a sexually oriented website noticed an individual using the site to arrange for meetings with fathers willing to share their daughters.

After determining the individual was Bergthold, the investigator contacted him while posing as a father willing to allow access to his 6-year-old daughter.
