Delicious sauces are reminders of friends' kind hospitality

There is nothing quite like eating a great meal at a friend's home and having him or her share the recipe with you. Then every time you prepare that special dish, you will remember the times you and your friend shared — and you'll have a fantastic dinner, too.

That is just what happened when my friends Nancy and David Rodriguez shared their amazing Green Pepper Tomatillo Sauce and Guacamole Sauce recipes with me. Last year, a group of us arrived at the Rodriguez home travel-worn, weary and hungry. And they fed us like we were royalty. It's just the way they are: friendly, hospitable and welcoming.

Nancy (with David's help) prepared an unbelievable spread. But I could not get enough of her appetizer: beef taquitos served with her two delicious homemade sauces. You will not be disappointed with either of these, and will find they are the perfect sauces for a variety of Mexican treats.

Suggested menu: Beef taquitos with Nancy's Guacamole Sauce and Nancy's Green Pepper Tomatillo Sauce.
