Des Plaines man accused of robbing liquor store

A 19-year-old Des Plaines man is accused of robbing a liquor store in town, police said. Nikko G. Principato of the 700 block of Holiday Lane is charged with burglary and two counts of intimidation, police said. At about 2 a.m. June 3, Des Plaines patrol officers responded to a call of a possible burglary at Day & Night Liquors, 1185 S. Elmhurst Road. Officers arrived to find the front window had been shattered, police said. Two witnesses in the area at the time told police they saw the offender carrying out liquor and cigarettes from the store, police said. When the witnesses confronted the offender, he threatened them with bodily harm if they called police, police said. An investigation led to Principato’s arrest on June 17. Principato’s bond was set at $25,000. He is set to appear for a hearing at 9 a.m. June 27 at the Cook County courthouse in Skokie.
