Woman dies after southern Ill. ATV wreck

MILTON, Ill. — Services are scheduled this week for a southern Illinois woman who was killed when the all-terrain vehicle she was riding overturned.

The Pike County Sheriff’s Department says 27-year-old Caitlin Kirschenman was on the ATV with a Granite City man late Friday near Milton when the vehicle hit a pile of logs and overturned onto both riders.

Kirschenman died later at a hospital. The other rider survived.

The Belleville News-Democrat reports that Kirschenman was an assistant teacher at Lighthouse Learning Center in Cahokia.

She graduated from O’Fallon Township High School in 2003 and Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville in 2009.

Visitation for Kirschenman will be Tuesday night at Schildknecht Funeral Home in O’Fallon, then again Wednesday morning until her funeral at 11 a.m. that day.
