Wrongly accused at 7, man now headed to prison

A man wrongly accused of killing an 11-year-old girl when he was 7 years old is now headed to prison for shooting two people in 2006.

Romarr Gipson, now 21, was sentenced Friday to 52 years in prison by Cook County Circuit Judge Brian Flaherty.

Flaherty convicted Gipson of attempted murder, aggravated battery with a firearm and aggravated discharge of a firearm into a vehicle during a bench trial.

Gipson and a stepbrother, Roman Foreman, were accused of shooting into a parked car, injuring two people inside

In 1998, a 7-year-old Gipson and an 8-year-old boy were accused in the death of Ryan Harris, then the youngest murder suspects in the nation.

DNA tests later led prosecutors to a convicted sex offender, who pleaded guilty and was sentenced to life in prison.
