Campton Hills Kiwanis offers safety workshops

Campton Hills Kiwanis Club is building a safer community for children, while benefiting the needs of children of CASA-Kane County, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 23, in the Lafox Martial Arts Center, 40W089 Route 64 Campton Hills.

Lafox Martial Arts will present “Personal Safety/Self-Defense,” “Stranger/Bully Topics” and “Basic Skills & Response Tactics.” The Campton Hills Police Department will offer “In-Home Safety for Kids,” “Internet Safety,” and “Home-Alone” Safety/Strategies.

The Fox River and Countryside Fire Protection District will offer “Summer Safety,” “Pool/Water Safety,” “Fireworks Precautions/Safety” and “Fire Exit Routes/Fire Response/Smoke Detectors.”

This event is open to the first 100 registered participants/residents of Campton Hills. Register by Saturday, June 16, with family name/head count to email w2wsafety@earthlink.net.

Kiwanis is asking that your family bring to registration a donated item needed by CASA. Needed items include new suitcases, overnight bags and backpacks for children and teens, hairbrush/comb set or monetary donations, making check payable to CASA.

If you cannot attend workshop but want to support this cause with a donation to CASA, you can drop off donation to local Kiwanis members: Neil Anderson of Luau Coffee, Fire Chief Greg Benson, Police Chief Daniel Hoffman, Vicky Vandiver at Lafox Martial Arts, and Kelly Pederson of Old Second Bank in Wasco by June 22 and it will be turned in at Kiwanis table on the day of event.
