Young jazz artists to take part in Chicago festival

The final lineup for the Chicago Jazz Festival has been announced, including student groups performing on a special stage.

The free festival runs Aug. 30 through Sept. 2. Venues include the Chicago Cultural Center and stages in Millennium and Grant parks. Headliners are Allen Toussaint, Dianne Reeves and Roy Haynes.

Student musicians perform on the Chicago Community Trust Young Jazz Lions Stage.

Young performers include Lakeview High School Jazz Combo, Saucedo Scholastic Academy Latin Big Band, Curie Metro Jazz Ensemble, Evanston Township High School Jazz Ensemble, Pritzker College Prep Jazz Ensemble and the Northern Illinois University Jazz Ensemble.

Also playing will be Chi Arts Jazz Combo, Kenwood Academy Jazz Combo, Northwestern University Jazz Ensemble, Downers Grove South Jazz Ensemble and the Lincoln Park Jazz Ensemble.
