Elgin dance academy to present ‘Sweet Home Chicago’

The Gould Academy of Dance Arts of Elgin will present its 29th annual production, “Sweet Home Chicago” at 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, June 16 and 17, at the Hemmens Cultural Center, 45 Symphony Way, Elgin.

Artistic director Donna Gould Jessen is dedicating this show to the loving memory of her mother, Virginia Gould, who passed away May 1, 2012.

This production of “Sweet Home Chicago” will feature students from ages 2 to adult, they will perform dances in the styles of jazz, tap, ballet, pointe, contemporary, hip hop and tumbling. Each dance has a Chicago destination or landmark of various locations in Chicago.

Tickets are $12 for children and $22 for adults. Group discounts are available. Tickets can be purchased at Gould Academy of Dance Arts prior to the event and at the Hemmens on the day of the show.
