Bird watching event Wednesday at Almond Marsh

The Lake County Audubon Society will host a “Cheese and Crackers with the Birds” at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 13 at Almond Marsh on Almond Road, between Casey Road and Route 120, near Grayslake.

The group meets in the parking lot at Almond Marsh to view the heron rookery, which includes natural nests and artificial nesting platforms installed by the society. Sights could include a variety of ducks, black crowned night heron, egrets, and sandhill cranes.

Binoculars, a spotting scope and snacks will be available.
