Free concert series kicks off Thursday
The Batavia Park District's River Rhapsody Concert Series kicks off Thursday, June 14 at 7:00 p.m. at the Batavia Riverwalk. The first concert of the season will be held on a Thursday evening with the remainder being held on Wednesdays from June 20 through August 8 at the Riverwalk, Houston Street and Island Avenue. Concerts are held from 7:00-8:30 p.m., and a variety of concessions will be available.
Kick off the summer with “Family Night at the Riverwalk” on Wednesday, June 20. BBI will take the stage, rocking out to music from the 70s, 80s and 90s while kids enjoy free, inflatable fun and balloon artistry. Stay after the concert on July 25 and August 8 for a family-friendly movie in the park!
Thursday, June 14: Limited Edition Big Band. This band is comprised of 16 musicians and a female vocalist. They have accumulated a music library of over 1200 big band swing, jazz and dance arrangements and have performed at all types of venues.
Wednesday, June 20: BBI. If a high energy party is what you're looking for, BBI is your band! They consist of the coolest musicians and vocalist in the music game. They can put down on their hip hop side and rock out with No Doubt and Uncle Kracker.
Wednesday, June 27: Red Woody. Red Woody's philosophy – There are great songs from every decade, why not play them! Artists covered include Journey, Matchbox 20, Bon Jovi, the Strokes, Goo Goo Dolls, AC/DC, Mellencamp and more. Every show is a party!
Wednesday, July 11: Johnny Russler and The Beach Bum Band. This band combines the tropical sounds of Caribbean rock, reggae and calypso by pouring great original music along with songs by Jimmy Buffett, Bob Marley, Sublime, Zac Brown Band and many more into a musical blender to create a strong concoction direct from the lower latitudes.
Wednesday, July 18: Geneva Jazz Ensemble. Your feet will be tapping to the musical fare of jazz works at this upbeat concert. This 20-member jazz band is comprised of members from Kane and DuPage counties.
Wednesday, July 25: Soda. The band features four experienced musicians who capture the heart and soul of one of the most diverse playlists you'll find anywhere. You'll get everything from Johnny Cash to Dave Matthews and Styx to John Mayer.
Wednesday, August 1: Michael Heaton Band. Michael Heaton's songs emerge from classic American traditions – rock, country and pop. Heaton accomplishes what few songwriters and performers do. He makes the tried and true feel new again. A self-described “country guy that can play the Who”, Heaton bridges the energy and passion of the best rock ‘n roll.
Wednesday, August 8: Midwest Dueling Pianos. Midwest Dueling Pianos has quickly become one of the most sought after Dueling Piano production companies in the country. Our interactive musical comedy experience will have your students singing, shouting, dancing and laughing. Our young, energetic and exciting entertainers perform on all request driven show with music ranging from the songs of today to way back when.
