Time for discussion of energy plans

We urgently need to discuss “smart meters,” but in the larger context of this nation’s energy plans. These meters are just a piece of a wrongly directed government effort to try to make alternative energy the solution to something.

Many billions of dollars are involved — both paid and to be paid with taxes and higher electric bills. Traditional energy supplies have become in disfavor and are being subjected to unreasonable, costly regulations and controls. This is intentional, of course, since more costly traditional sources make the alternate sources economically attractive.

We need to remember Obama’s own words: Electric rates will necessarily skyrocket.

I am at a loss for words on how I feel about all this — at a time when the economy is going to hell at all levels of our society.
