Illinois National Guard gets acting head
SPRINGFIELD — A Springfield man is serving as acting adjutant general of the Illinois National Guard.
Maj. Gen. Dennis Celletti was sworn in Thursday after Maj. Gen. William Enyart of Belleville announced his retirement from the Illinois National Guard. Enyart stepped down after five years in the post as he considers running for the southern Illinois congressional seat being vacated by Democrat Jerry Costello.
Celletti has served as assistant adjutant general and commander of the Illinois Army National Guard since 2005.
He enlisted in the Illinois Army National Guard in 1972.
