Improv Playhouse presents ‘The Mouse That Roared’

Twenty-seven young actors from Libertyville and the surrounding communities in the cast of Improv Playhouse Young Actors Workshop will be performing in the vintage comedy classic “The Mouse That Roared” Friday through Sunday, June 8-10, at the Libertyville High School Theater, 708 W. Park, Libertyville.

“The Mouse That Roared” is remembered by many for the film version starring Peter Sellers, playing three roles: the Duchess, Count Rupert the Prime Minister and Tully the military leader. In it, the tiny European Duchy of Grand Fenwick, located in the Alps between Switzerland and France, proudly retains a preindustrial economy, dependent almost entirely on making Pinot Grand Fenwick wine. However, an American winery makes a knockoff version, “Pinot Grand Enwick,” putting the country on the verge of bankruptcy. The prime minister decides that their only course of action is to declare war on the United States.

Performances will be 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 8; 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 9; and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 10. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students (college and younger), and $7.50 for seniors (65 and over) and military.
