Des Plaines sound insulation warranty to expire

Des Plaines 6th Ward Alderman Mark Walsten warned residents living north of Touhy Avenue who received windows as part of the O’Hare Noise Compatibility Commission’s Residential Sound Insulation Program that their warranty on those windows is about to expire.

Residents must contact the ONCC if they need replacement windows before the warranty runs out, Walsten said at a recent city council meeting. The number to call is (773) 894-3255.

The Residential Sound Insulation Program was put in place to reduce the impact of aircraft noise from the expanding O’Hare International Airport. Sound insulation work may include new attic insulation, acoustically rated exterior doors, storm doors and windows, or air conditioning, according to the ONCC website. The program is funded by the FAA’s Airport Improvement Program and the city of Chicago’s Passenger Facility Charges.
