Hroma, Meyer join Warren athletic department
Warren has named Joe Hroma as its new girls swimming coach and Tina Meyer as its new softball coach.
Hroma comes to Warren from Danville High School in Indiana, where he lead his boys and girls teams to conference championships two years ago. This past season he had three of his swimmers place at state. Hroma was a highly successful high school swimmer in the state of Indiana and has been involved in many different aspects of swimming.
“Joe takes over a program that has many of our top swimmers returning, and I am confident Joe’s leadership and knowledge will help the program continue to move in the right direction,” Warren athletic director Mark Pos said. “Joe is very excited about becoming our head coach and looks forward to meeting the swimmers and their parents in the very near future.”
Meyer is a former standout high school player at Round Lake. She has served as a varsity assistant coach in Warren’s softball program for the past four years. She had a successful college career, starting out at the College of Lake County and finishing her career at Wisconsin-Whitewater, where she earned all-American honors. She currently teaches physical education at Zion’s Tech School.
“Tina has been an important part of our softball program’s growth over the past four years, so she became a logical choice,” Pos said. “She has great knowledge of the sport along with great passion. Tina has played the game at a high level and I am confident she will keep our softball program on its upward growth.”
