Waukegan fishing derby

The Waukegan Park District Annual Fishing Derby is set for Saturday, June 9 at Bevier Pond, at Yorkhouse and McAree roads. The derby is always scheduled on a “free fishing day” declared by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, a day when state fishing licenses are not required. Prior to the derby, Bevier is stocked with several hundred pounds of catfish. Prizes are awarded according to age categories for the largest fish caught at the fishing derby.
