Probe of Indiana bridge worker’s death could take 2 months
MADISON, Ind. — Indiana’s workplace-safety agency says its investigation of a bridge worker’s death could take up to two more months to complete.
Fifty-year-old Roger Cox of Austin, Ind., died May 4, four days after he was found unconscious on the Ohio River bridge linking Madison, Ind., and Milton, Ky. The Madison Courier reports Cox became trapped between the bucket he had been standing in and the steel beam he was working on.
The Indiana Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigation Cox’s death. Agency spokesman Bob Dittmer says IOSHA has 180 days to complete an investigation, but he expects it to be complete within two months.
Cox was an employee of Walsh Construction. A coroner has ruled his death work-related and due to a lack of oxygen reaching his brain.
