4 appoints to Cook County public housing authority

Cook County’s public housing authority has four new board members, representing a majority of the seven-member board.

Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle announced the appointments Tuesday. Her office referred to the appointments as “sweeping changes” in a news release.

Preckwinkle also announced that the Housing Authority of Cook County will increase its collaboration with county offices and agencies to boost efficiency and address a backlog of deferred maintenance.

Preckwinkle’s appointments to the board are Paul Roldan, CEO of Hispanic Housing Development Corporation; attorney Deniece Jordan-Walker; Wendy Walker Williams, executive director of the South East Chicago Commission; and Polly Kuehl of Evergreen Real Estate Services. The board meets monthly and members serve five-year terms.
