Buffalo Grove holding Junior Police Academy
Applications are being accepted for the summer 2012 session of the Buffalo Grove Police Department’s Junior Police Academy, scheduled to take place from June 11-15.
Applicants must be between 12 to 15 years of age and live or attend school in Buffalo Grove. The program is provided to the community at no cost and class size is limited to 20 participants.
The program will show participants what it’s like to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation, gather evidence at a crime scene, be a K-9 Handler and more.
One of the goals of the academy is to help participants better understand how police work in their community. Participants will get to know more about the men and women who are protecting their community and their day-to-day activities and responsibilities. Applications are available at the front desk of the police department, 46 Raupp Boulevard, or online at the police page of the village website, http://www.vbg.org. For more information, contact the department’s Crime Prevention/Community Involvement Unit at (847) 459-2560 or email police@vbg.org.
