Cash collectors annoy drivers

In the past few months, I have read about the village of Schaumburg banning charity collection bins. Recently, I read in your paper that they are limiting the amount of time a temporary storage bin can be on a homeowner’s property. I understand that both of these items can become eyesores, and often the use of them is abused.

However, I would like to suggest that Schaumburg pass an ordinance limiting the number of days any one charity can collect money in the village. Daily, I feel assaulted by the people standing at Higgins Road and Route 53 walking between the cars asking for money — not to mention that it is a safety hazard the pose. I saw the same group standing at the intersection of Roselle and Algonquin roads.

I have told friends about this and have heard that the same group is in many towns day after day asking for money. Personally, I would rather have the charity bins, as they do not come up to my car window or keep me from going on a green light because they are getting a donation from the driver a few cars ahead of me.
