Rookie Friedrick stifles D-backs, Rockies win 4-0
PHOENIX — Colorado rookie Christian Friedrich pitched four-hit ball for seven innings in the best outing of his young career and the Rockies won for the seventh time in eight games, 4-0 over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday night.
The 24-year-old left-hander struck out four and walked two, both in the first inning, to improve to 4-1 in six starts.
Wilin Rosario had a solo home run and an RBI infield single for the Rockies, who snapped a five-game Chase Field losing streak. Joe Saunders (3-4) allowed four runs on 11 hits in 6 2-3 innings to take the loss.
