Rolling Meadows chamber honors Business Ledger

The Daily Herald Business Ledger was one of several businesses honored by the Rolling Meadows Circles of Success annual dinner on Thursday night.

The Daily Herald Business ledger was named Communications Partner of the Year for it's extensive coverage of the local business community, said Linda Ballantine, executive director of the Rolling Meadows Chamber of Commerce.

“It's been a little over a year since we started this and our perspective is that it's doing exactly what we hoped it would be doing,” said Doug Ray, publisher and chief executive officer for Paddock Publications. “We're serving the business community in the northwest suburbs and we couldn't be more pleased to be honored by Rolling Meadows with this award.”

Teamwork and leadership were themes of the night as Warner Cruz, owner and president of J.C. Restoration, emphasized the importance of every employee at a company contributing to its success. “Without the behind the scenes people, we can't accept awards. We can't win alone,” Cruz said. “Being a leader means building a team.”

That sentiment was echoed by Daily Herald Executive Vice President and General Manager Scott Stone, who accepted the award on behalf of the Business Ledger.

“The way this works and works well is when we all work together,” Stone said. “One of our goals has been to grow our partnership in the Northwest suburbs and in places like Rolling Meadows, so an honor like this is recognition that we're doing our job.”

Jim Elsener, general manager of the Business Ledger, said the bi-weekly publication brings “an entrepreneurial spirit to a large company.”

Other honorees included; Jeffery Palombo of Northrop Grumman Corp. for Business Leader of the Year, Bill Carleton for Community Leader of the Year, Method Electronics Inc. for Business of the Year, Joshua Avila of DUB VOX Studio Services for Chamber Volunteer of the Year, Harper College for Community Outreach Award, The Apartments of Woodfield Crossing for Community Enhancement Award, and the Rotary Club of Rolling Meadows for 40 Years of Service to the Community.
