Submitted by Paul Krupin

A special three-day Breakthrough Basketball skills development camp will be offered for boys and girls ages 12 and up June 15-17 at the Libertyville Sports Complex.

The Breakthrough Basketball camp will be taught by NBA development expert Don Kelbick. He’ll share the key drills, skills, strategies and tactics in group sessions and individual development practice sessions with lots of hands-on drills with players and coaches helping out.

The camp will be from, 6-9 p.m. Friday, June 15; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 16; and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 17, with lunch breaks from noon to 1 p.m. The Libertyville Sports Complex is at 1950 N. Highway 45, Libertyville.

Don Kelbick has over 35 years of basketball coaching experience at the high school, Division I college, and professional levels. He has provided individual training for more than 14 different NBA players including Raja Bell, Carlos Boozer, and J.J. Barea, over 50 European and professional players, and hundreds of college basketball players. He was a college head coach for 14 years and Division I assistant for 10 years, and spent two years as a high-school coach. In two years as a high-school coach, his teams produced six Division I players and was ranked number one in Florida 28 out of a possible 34 weeks.

The camp is open to middle school, high school and college players. Coaches that want to learn and pick up new skills are also invited to attend and observe. The camp is for serious players that want to work hard and want to dramatically improve their scoring mentality, ballhandling, shooting, footwork, finishing, and more. It is designed as an ever-evolving intensive open learning experience that the players, coaches, and parents can really enjoy.

The camp is limited to 60 players. The cost of the three-day camp is $225, and $97 for observing coaches. Parents whose child has registered can watch for no additional charge.
