Round Lake Park man dies after being struck by train

A 60-year-old man was killed after he was struck by a Metra commuter train near the Round Lake station Wednesday morning.

Gary Oborny of Round Lake Park was struck by a Milwaukee District North Line train and was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center where he was pronounced dead shortly after at 9:47 a.m., according to Lake County Deputy Coroner Tammy Williams.

Oborny was struck near the station at the cross of Route 134 and Cedar Lake Road, Williams said.

The death remained under investigation Wednesday night, Williams said.

Oborny was struck by an outbound Milwaukee District North Line train, according to Metra.
