Minor fire damages Hoffman Estates home
An overheated exhaust fan in a Hoffman Estates home’s bathroom sparked a fire that caused an estimated $20,000 in damages early Wednesday morning, according to fire officials.
Firefighters arriving at the two story home in the 4600 block of Brigantine Lane at 2:56 a.m. found the occupants had already evacuated.
The first crew on the scene found the fire in the bathroom ceiling near an exhaust fan, and quickly extinguished the flames, officials said.
Fire investigators said the home was found to have non-working smoke detectors.
