Rolling Meadows man killed in motorcycle crash, wife critical

A Rolling Meadows man was killed in a motorcycle crash Monday morning in Wisconsin that left his wife in critical condition.

William M. Geimer, 58, was driving a 2007 BMW motorcycle about 5 miles east of East Troy, Wis., near Green Lake when a pickup truck pulling a boat trailer turned left in front of him, according to the Walworth County Sheriff's Office.

William Geimer struck the passenger side of the truck, and his wife, Cheryl Geimer, 60, was thrown from the motorcycle, according to police.

Walworth County sheriff's deputies and paramedics responded to the crash on U.S. Highway 12 at Tamarack Road at about 9:57 a.m. to a report of an unresponsive person in the roadway.

William and Cheryl Geimer were taken to Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn, but William died of his injuries shortly after arriving the hospital, according to police.

As of late Tuesday morning, Cheryl Geimer remained in critical condition at the hospital.

Both William and Cheryl Geimer were wearing helmets when the crash occurred, according to police.

Police said William Geimer had priority when the pickup truck turned into the path of his motorcycle, causing the collision in the intersection.

The 26-year-old driver of the pickup and three occupants of his vehicle were treated and released from area hospitals, according to police.

Neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to be factors in the crash, according to a preliminary investigation.

No citations or files had been charged as of Tuesday morning, but police said the investigation was ongoing and the crash will be reviewed by the Walworth County district attorney's office once the investigation is complete for possible charges.
