Foul play not suspected in Hanover Park apartment building fire
The fire that broke out Friday evening at a three-story apartment building in Hanover Park isn’t believed to be suspicious, Assistant Fire Chief Ken Zaccard said Tuesday. The blaze, which started at 5:48 p.m. at 2081 Narcissus Ave., trapped five people who needed to be rescued. Zaccard said an investigation into the cause is ongoing, and that insurance company State Farm will likely conduct an independent investigation. After the fire started in a first-floor bedroom, crews had to extend ladders to reach residents on the top floor. Three people were treated for smoke inhalation at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates. Zaccard said he expects a preliminary report with more information by Friday.
