No injuries in Downers Grove house fire

No injuries were reported Friday in a fire that apparently was sparked by a toaster and caused an estimated $125,000 damage to a house in the 1500 block of Concord Avenue in Downers Grove, authorities said.

The blaze spread through much of the first floor, including the kitchen, dining room and den, authorities said, and left the house uninhabitable.

Firefighters said they responded at 8:15 a.m. for the reported toaster fire and arrived three minutes later to find light smoke showing from the home’s exterior. All of the residents already were out of the house and were checked by Downers Grove Fire Department paramedics.

The fire was extinguished in less than 20 minutes with help from Westmont and Lisle-Woodridge firefighters.
