Police looking for Algonquin bank robber
Algonquin police are asking the public’s help in identifying a man who robbed the Fifth Third Bank on Randall Road Wednesday afternoon.
The man, described as 30 to 40 years old, wearing a baseball cap and possibly Hispanic, approached the teller at about 4:45 p.m. and announced a robbery was taking place at the bank at 450 S. Randall Road, Algonquin police said in a news release. He implied he had a weapon but did not show one. The teller complied with the man’s demands and gave him an undetermined amount of cash. No one was hurt.
The man was seen leaving on foot in a north or northeast direction and may have gotten into a small red car that left southbound on Randall Road.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Algonquin Police Department’s criminal investigations unit at (815) 987-9833 or the Rockford office of the FBI at (815) 987-9833.
The FBI has jurisdiction over crimes that take place at federally insured banks, Algonquin Deputy Chief Ed Urban said.
