Lake County to post news of beach closings online
Lake County beachgoers will be able to get daily updates online about Lake Michigan beach advisories this summer.
The county’s health department plans to post news of beach closings from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Health Department chief Irene Pierce says swim bans are rare. But it pays to check the website to see if high bacteria counts have caused the health department to temporarily close a beach.
The website will be updated daily by 10 a.m. for beaches in Zion, Waukegan, Lake Bluff, Lake Forest and Highland Park.
