Hohman’s two-hitter drops Metea Valley

Shannon Hohman fired a two-hitter, striking out two, to lead No. 5 seed Waubonsie Valley to a 6-0 win over No. 12 Metea Valley at the Class 4A Metea Valley regional.

Hohman (21-5) escaped a two-walk first inning unscathed and took a no-hitter into the fifth. The Warriors (26-8), who advance to play Plainfield Central Saturday, capitalized on four Metea Valley errors. Amanda Minahan, hit on her elbow by a pitch in the Warriors’ last game against Elk Grove, returned Wednesday and singled in a pair of runs in the third inning.

West Chicago 6, Downers Grove South 3:

The No. 12 seed Wildcats (23-12) scored 2 runs in the sixth to tie it, then 3 more in the seventh to upend No. 5 Downers Grove South at the Class 4A Geneva regional. Jessica Wood had 3 hits and drove in 2 runs for West Chicago, which advances to play Downers Grove North Saturday. Jessica Andree and Aleisha Bozek both went 2-for-4 for Downers Grove South (24-11), which was hurt by 5 errors.

Neuqua Valley 7, Plainfield South 2:

Alyssa Domico was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI and winning pitcher Jamie O’Brien 2-for-4 with a double and RBI for the No. 9 seed Wildcats, who blew open a close game with 5 runs in the seventh at the Class 4A Plainfield South regional. Brooke Meyer was 2-for-4 with a double and RBI for Neuqua (21-15), which plays Benet Saturday.

Glenbard West 1, WW South 0:

Taylor Langtry (17-6) twirled a shutout for the No. 7 seed Hilltoppers (22-13), and Maggie Stalker drove in the game’s only run in the fourth inning at the Class 4A Bartlett regional.

Naperville North 9, Bolingbrook 1:

Caitlyn Warren was 2-for-3 and scored 2 runs for the No. 6 seed Huskies (22-12) at the Class 4A Plainfield North regional. Alexis Solak and Steph Tobin also scored twice.

Montini 10, Brooks 0:

Lauren Trojnar (15-9) tossed a two-hitter with 8 strikeouts and Emily Barg homered for the Broncos (22-14) at the Class 3A Montini regional.
