Abortion is taking of an innocent life

This is in response to Ginger Storniolo’s May 12 letter in Fence Post as to abortion being a private affair. In your argument supporting abortion and the decision being a personal one, you dispute the wisdom of religious scholars; you brush aside men who object to the killing of the unborn, and you cite the difficulties and emotional stress when the choice is adoption rather than abortion.

But did you consider the Fifth Commandment? Stated rather simply, you shall not kill.

Consider, too, that there is a history of approximately 2,000 years prior to the birth of Christ that calls out against the taking of an innocent life. This is truth. It remains such regardless of man’s opinions.

And, yes, God will judge us individually and as a nation. Yes, he is a forgiving God. But will God, the author of life, find us just in our thoughts, words and actions both as individuals and as a nation regarding the unborn child?
