Surgeon: Girl shot with arrow lucky to be alive
WAUWATOSA, Wis. — The surgeon who removed an arrow from the body of a 7-year-old says the Campbellsport girl is “very lucky to be alive.”
Dr. John Densmore says if there had been a difference in the trajectory of the arrow by less than an inch, it could have been “a very bad outcome.”
Aryanna Schneeberg was airlifted to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin Sunday afternoon after she was shot in the back by an errant arrow while playing with friends on the sidewalk outside her house.
Densmore says Aryanna suffered wounds to her left lung, diaphragm, spleen, stomach and liver. He says the girl is expected to be in the hospital another week or two.
The Journal Sentinel reports a bow and arrows have been confiscated by authorities from a nearby home in Campbellsport.
