Need To Learn Computer Basics? Try the Library's Adult Computer Camp

Do you know a relative, friend or neighbor who needs computer help? Someone who's confused when it comes to computers and needs to learn the basics? Tell them about the Naperville Public Library's 4-day adult computer camp.

At the camp, they'll learn the terminology (so they can finally speak the language!) and practice the skills. The two-hour a day class starts on Monday, June 4 and ends Thursday, June 7 at the Nichols Library, 200 W. Jefferson Ave. Bring your own computer/tablet or use one of ours.

Here's an outline of the camp. On day 1 they'll learn about the parts of the computer, how to use the mouse and keyboard, tour the desktop, plus basic computer operation and file management. Day 2 is Internet Day! They'll learn about navigating websites (and view some popular ones to try), search for information (do you Google?), and how to use shopping sites safely. Email is the focus of day 3. They'll set up their own email account (using Gmail), learn to send and receive messages, attach and retrieve pictures and documents, keep everything organized, and control unwanted emails. Final day is all about entertainment. They can upload pictures from their digital camera, play online games (a great way to keep the mind sharp!), and more.

This program requires advanced registration at any of the Computer Labs at the three library buildings. The fee is $20 for the entire four-day camp.
