Inspect wording of pension amendment

This fall Illinois voters will have the opportunity to vote on a constitutional amendment that will make it harder for state and local governments to sweeten public employee pensions. It will require a three-fifths majority of lawmakers, city councils and school boards to increase public pension benefits. This is a very important step in the right direction. All citizens should be eager to see it passed.

A word of caution is in order, though. We had better look it over very carefully before election time to make sure there are no hidden agendas. I hope the news media publish this bill in its entirety so everyone gets a chance to read it. We don’t need and indeed can’t afford any surprises.
