Muncie police arrest 10-year-old boys in arson

MUNCIE, Ind. — Police in Muncie expect two 10-year-old boys to face arson charges in juvenile court for starting a fire that destroyed a garage and spread to a vacant house.

City police Sgt. Mike Engle tells The Star Press that investigators believe the boys used a lighter to ignite materials that were at the garage.

One of the boys was arrested soon after the Monday night fire on the city’s south side and the other was arrested Wednesday.

Police are trying to determine whether a third boy might have also been involved and whether they are responsible for two other fires at houses in that neighborhood in the past month.
