Scouts’ Camporee part of Round Lake Beach 75th celebration
The Round Lake Beach Area Scouts and Super Pack 199 are hosting the Round Lake Beach 75th Anniversary All-Scout Camporee.
It will be from Friday, June 1, through Sunday, June 3. It will include honors for the 100th anniversaries of the Girl Scouts, Eagle Scouts and the Round Lake Fire District and the village’s 75th.
The event will take place on the municipal grounds from the Sports Center to the Civic Center and Metra station. The rear of the Civic Center and north end of the Metra station parking lot will be the main activities area, while the Scout encampment will be north of the village hall.
Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Venturing and Explorers will be represented.
On Saturday, June 2, the public is invited to see who Scouts are and what they do.
The area behind the Civic Center will be for Scout activities, such as rope bridges, pinewood derby and much more. There will also be nonScouting activities, including the Round Lake Area Park District’s catch-and-release fishing clinic, and a kids workshop run by the Round Lake Beach Home Depot on the Civic Center grounds. Round Lake Beach police, fire and public works departments have been invited to put vehicles on display.
Scott’s Dogs and Papa Savario’s will vend food on Saturday. The Round Lake Beach 75th Anniversary committee, the Round Lake Area Public Library District, Vista Health and Army and Navy recruiters will have booths.
The Scouts will put on a Camporee stage show Saturday night with skits, songs and Order of the Arrow Indian dancers.
