Elgin CSI campus adds 3 new scholarships for 8-month career programs

ELGIN, IL (May 15, 2012) – The Elgin campus of Computer Systems Institute (CSI) has introduced three new scholarships of $500 to $2,000 for new students enrolling in the school's eight-month, fast-track career training programs in healthcare, information technology or business administration. The school's programs prepare students for careers ranging from medical assisting and medical billing/coding to employment as a computer technician, help desk support specialist, network support technician, office manager, accounting clerk and more.

The new Academic Achievement scholarship offers a $500 tuition subsidy to qualifying students who have received a GED in lieu of graduating from high school. The Back to the Community scholarship provides $1,000 in tuition support to new students who have a record of volunteerism in their communities. The Patriot Scholarship awards $2,000 in tuition aid to qualifying veterans and $1,000 to their dependents or spouses.

Other available scholarships include full tuition, half tuition and $1,000 SMART scholarships for high school seniors, as well as Alumni scholarships for CSI graduates who want to further their education at the school.

“Students come to us to change their lives, whether they are unemployed, underemployed, looking to change careers, or recent high school graduates seeking a career path. We are continually adding strategies to help them achieve their goals,” said Tom Claxton, president of the CSI Elgin campus. “Our newest scholarship opportunities support that mission by helping students take advantage of our fast-track career programs to quickly make themselves employable in high-growth industries.”

In addition to scholarships, CSI offers benefits such as stipends for academic performance, no-charge retakes of failed classes, clothing swaps, resume development assistance, and free GED preparation classes to help students succeed in the classroom as well as the job market.

The school also pays for certification exams for students who successfully complete a career program. These certifications – including CompTIA A+, Microsoft MCITP and Microsoft MCTS exams for network systems administration; National Healthcareer Association and American Medical Technologist exams for healthcare; and Microsoft Office Specialist and Customer Service exams for business – assist graduates in finding jobs by demonstrating that they have the required skills.
