Bail set at $1 million in human trafficking case
A Chicago man is being held in lieu of $1 million bail after being accused of forcing young girls into prostitution.
During a bond hearing Wednesday, Cook County prosecutors said DaJuan Brown beat and exploited at least 12 girls over a five-year period. It is alleged the 35-year-old Brown would sometimes lock the victims without food or appliances in his apartment.
Prosecutors also said Brown would ply the girls with heroin and if they met their quotas he would reward them with more drugs and food from a fast-rood restaurant’s dollar menu.
Brown is charged with 10 felony counts of involuntary sexual servitude and one count of aggravated human trafficking. He was arrested Tuesday by sheriff’s police who had been told Brown had been holding women against their will.
