Libertyville has been playing better softball the last couple of weeks, and first-year coach Elissa Wisniewski’s Wildcats picked up a quality win Wednesday.
Calley Kaluzny homered, doubled and singled, driving in 4 runs, as Libertyville defeated host Lakes 11-1 in six innings in a North Suburban Conference crossover.
Besides Kaluzny, leadoff hitter Taylor Oberman and Nicole Kruckman also had 3 hits for the Wildcats. Oberman tripled and scored 4 runs, while Kruckman doubled and knocked in three. Andi Katz added a pair of hits, and Emilie Teitz pitched all 6 innings in capturing the win.
Jamie Dykstra tripled and singled for Lakes (21-12). Megan Milewski (triple) and Sara Braden (double) also had extra-base hits for the Eagles.
Grant 10, Stevenson 6: Molly Smith went 4-for-4 with a home run and double, as the host Bulldogs won the North Suburban crossover.
Caitlyn Moran and Bree Lundman also doubled for Grant (23-11). Winning pitcher Rachel DePouw did not allow an earned run in her complete-game effort. She struck out eight and walked two.
Kat Trotter doubled and pitched well in relief for Stevenson, which trailed 10-0 after four innings.
Lake Zurich 3, Antioch 0: Shannon McPeek pitched a 4-hit shutout and aided her own cause with a pair of singles, and Carlee Parsons hit a solo homer for the visiting Bears in the North Suburban crossover.
Maria Schroeder was 1-for-3 for Lake Zurich (25-9).
Antioch fell to 21-14.
Mundelein 9, Wauconda 1: Hailey Morelli (2-for-4), Alex Hemmer and Erin Kennelly (2-for-4) all doubled for the visiting Mustangs in the North Suburban crossover.
Emily East went the distance in the circle in picking up the win.
