Palatine 13, Buffalo Grove 3 (6 inn.): Courtney English (double, 2 runs), Lauren Logan ( 2-for-3; 3 runs), Jamie Haze (2-for-4, 2 runs), Kayla Borgan (double) and Grace Rohrwasser (2-for-4) led host Palatine (15-19) which received 8 strikeouts from winning pitcher Megan Hedstrom (11-16).
Caitlin Catino (3-for-3, double), Dea Barton (1-for-2), Erin Barton (2-for-3) and Jessie Lazzara (2-for-3) paced Buffalo Grove (9-23).
Hoffman Estates 5, Wheeling 4: Nicole LaBeck (2-for-4, double), Alexis Filler (2-for-4), Alex Tuminaro (2-for-4), Amanda Harris (2-for-3), Allison Amato (2-for-3, 2 RBI) and Kajal Dalal (2-for-3) were top hitters for host Hoffman (5-24-1). Winning pitcher Charlotte Allan (5-21-1) struck out three.
Sara Kern (3-for-3, 3 RBI) belted 2 homers for Wheeling (8-21) while Jackie Resnick (2-for-4) added a double.
Schaumburg 4, Hersey 3: Senior Renee Kakareka (9-5) threw 5-hitter and struck out 10 for the host Saxons (16-13), who were led on offense by Dana Giannelli (2-for-3), Alyssa Lancaster (2-for-3, double, RBI) and Kirsten Safley (2-for-3).
Alex Tinaglia went 2-for-3 (1 RBI) with a home run and double for Hersey (15-17)
St. Viator 7, Nazareth 6: Krystal Harris (3-for-4, RBI), Gina Mastrodomenico (3-3, double, RBI), Alex Flasch (2-3, home run) and Lauren Prazuch (2-for-4) led the Lions’ offense which rallied from a 4-0 deficit. Michelle Presslak added a 2-run double in the ESCC contest.
Prazuch drove an 0-2 pitch to right field to drive in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh.
Harris (4-6) relieved Sam Hogan and pitched the final 42⁄3 innings to get her first conference win and give Viator its 11th win.
Christian Liberty 6, Westminster Christian 3: Megan Sullivan was the winning pitcher as the Chargers were led by Megan Krizanovic ( 2-for-3, 2 doubles), Beth Cunningham (2-for-2, 2 walks) and Hannah Miller (2-for-4) in the semifinal of the Class 1A Luther North regional.
