Lamborghini Gallardo crash in Wheeling becomes YouTube hit

A crash involving a bright yellow 2004 Lamborghini Gallardo in Wheeling is quickly becoming a hit on YouTube.

The video, shot on Mother's Day at the corner of Palatine and Wheeling roads, shows the sports car revving its engine while sitting at a red light, preparing to turn left onto southbound Wheeling Road.

The second the light turns green, the Lamborghini swerves out of control, veers into the northbound lane of Wheeling Road, crashes into two cars and wedges itself between two vehicles.

Lamborghini driver William Whitaker, of the 0 to 100 block of Tournament Drive in Hawthorn Woods, was ticketed by the Wheeling Police for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, according to the accident report supplied by the Wheeling Police Department.

According to the report, Whitaker "just lost it as he accelerated" around the corner, causing the car to veer out of control.

The report adds that no one was injured in the crash.

The Lamborghini and a second vehicle in the crash were towed from the scene, the report continues.
