Jobs announcement set at Subaru's Indiana factory
LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels is scheduled to join Subaru executives for an announcement at the company's factory near Lafayette.
The state economic development agency released no details about the Wednesday morning event, but called it a jobs announcement.
About 3,600 people now work at the factory that produces Legacy, Outback and Tribeca models for Subaru along with Toyota Camrys. The Journal & Courier reports the announcement follows reports this month that Subaru's parent company has faced days in expanding car production in China.
Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski and other local officials recently returned from a trip to Japan, where they met with Fuji Heavy Industries and Subaru officials.
