Minnesota crushes Sky in final preseason game

After winning Monday by a 32-point margin, the Sky lost its final preseason game Tuesday by a 21 points to the Minnesota Lynx, the defending WNBA champions.

The Sky trailed 40-25 at the half, and was Minnesota never let up in the 82-61 rout.

Olympians Sylvia Fowles and Swin Cash returned from Team USA camp to rejoin the Sky, which shot just 39 percent from the field. Minnesota dominated thanks to making 53 percent of its field goal attempts.

Tamera Young led the Sky off the bench with 11 points and 2 assists. Fowles added 9 points and 5 rebounds in 23 minutes. Sky guard Epiphanny Prince also scored 9, and Cash added 8 points.

Monica Wright led all scorers with 14 points and teammate Seimone Augustus added 10 points and 4 rebounds for Minnesota. Lindsey Whalen had 9 points and Maya Moore had 8.

The Sky will head to Washington on Saturday to open the 2012 regular season. The Lynx will open their season on Sunday against the Phoenix Mercury.
