Sky defeat Liberty in exhibition game
The Chicago Sky defeated the New York Liberty 89-57 in an exhibition match Monday in Newark, N.J.
Point guard Epiphanny Prince led the Sky in scoring with 15 points in the blowout win.
Sky head coach and general manager Pokey Chatman praised the team’s defensive effort after Chicago outrebounded New York 43-27 and created 15 turnovers while giving up 11.
“We struggled last year with turnovers, so it was nice to only have 11 against a good defensive team,” Chatman said.
The win came without Sylvia Fowles and Swin Cash, who were both in Seattle practicing with Team USA for the Olympics.
The Sky will travel to Minnesota to finish its preseason Monday before opening the regular season Saturday in Washington D.C. against the Mystics.
