DCFS investigating death of Aurora 3-year-old

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is investigating the death Friday of a 3-year-old Aurora girl, officials said Monday.

Eryn Boyd, of the 1700 block of Cumberland Road, was pronounced dead at Loyola Medical Center in Maywood, officials from the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

A preliminary cause of death was not given, officials said, and an autopsy that was performed Sunday to investigate the child’s death was inconclusive.

DCFS spokesman Jimmy Whitlow said the agency is investigating the cause of death, but declined to comment further on the scope of the investigation.

Whitlow said DCFS has not had prior contact with the family, and that another child living in the home is currently staying with relatives.

Aurora police are not involved in any type of investigation related to the case, police spokesman Dan Ferrelli said.
