Looking for fairness in health care

It’s certainly sad and unfair that Senator Kirk suffered such a severe stroke back in January, and I extend him my best wishes.

It’s very fortunate for him that he continues to draw his $174,000 a year government salary, won’t get pushed out of his job and has access to the very best health care the industry can offer at virtually no cost to him.

I know a guy who suffered a compressed nerve back in November, couldn’t walk for two months and is still in rehab. He lost his job and health insurance and never was able to get disability income.

Isn’t it ironic that Sen. Kirk voted against national health care at every opportunity, helping to prevent even a small portion of the benefits he now enjoys and we pay for, from becoming available to more people? That doesn’t seem fair, either.
