Where do our tax dollars really go?

Invest in America! Well, I do. I pay my taxes.

A government official will use the catch phrase “It’s only a few dollars” when asking for a tax increase. Well, only a few dollars goes toward a tank of gas, a pharmacy bill or a house payment for most people. Looking back, I still can’t see what my taxes have bought me. Every time I read the newspaper or turn on the television there is a cry for more taxes. Where is all the tax revenue going?

The statement we constantly hear from politicians is that the nation needs new roads, bridges and infrastructure. Aren’t fuel, property and a multitude of other federal taxes paying for these? The same news media that tell us there is a need for new infrastructure also run articles on bribery, waste and kickbacks. When are the politicians going to be held liable for their wasteful spending habits?

My check is in the mail and it should be paying for a portion of asphalt for a new road or a bolt in a new bridge.

Here’s hoping.
