SIU board OKs new Edwardsville chancellor
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. — Southern Illinois University’s board of trustees has signed off on the hiring of a University of Wisconsin administrator as the new chancellor at SIU’s campus in Edwardsville.
The (Carbondale) Southern Illinoisan reports the trustees voted Thursday in favor of Julie Furst-Bowe succeeding retiring chancellor Vaughn Vandegrift at the 14,000-student school.
Furst-Bowe was introduced as a selection committee’s choice last month.
She has served since 2005 as provost and vice chancellor for academic and student affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. She’s been at that school since 1990, having previously served as a faculty member, graduate program director, department chair and associate vice chancellor.
She has a master’s degree from Wisconsin-Stout in instructional media technology and a doctorate in education from the University of Minnesota.
